The video of comedian Keegan-Michael Key playing the role of a substitute teacher at our Larkins Southwest Early Learning Communities (ELC) is now available on social media. This video is one of three that native Detroiter Key created for the United Way for Southeastern Michigan as part of a new advertising campaign to promote important programs supported by the United Way.
Key is a comedian, actor and writer best known for the popular show on Comedy Central. Key donated his time for the ad campaign, as did Leo Burnett Detroit, which produced the spots.
Southwest Early Learning Communities (ELC) provide free training and resources to parents and caregivers so that they can prepare children to be “ready to learn” when the children enter school. In the filming of the Key ELC spot, children actually attending our ELC program play along with Key as he gives his own irreverent spin of the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty.”
