YouthBuild is a free, 26-week program that teaches young people construction skills so they can prepare for careers in the building trades. The second cohort held its graduation ceremony on April 26. It was attended by family, friends, and program staff and partners.

In addition to learning real-world construction and carpentry skills, YouthBuild students earn certifications in OSHA training, Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3), first aid, customer service and Work Keys. They can also earn their GED in the program, all while receiving a stipend. YouthBuild is available to young people 18-24 years old who live in Detroit, Highland Park or Hamtramck.

To learn more, call 313-733-1173 or email. Our YouthBuild program is a partnership with SEMCA, Michigan Works!, Michigan HRDi, and Detroit At Work.
