Say & Play with Words (Hablen y Jueguen con Palabras) held a special graduation event on May 8 for its 5th cohort.

“In the former cohorts, we had helped participants increase vocabulary with their families,” said Christina Mireles, who supervises our Say & Play program. “During this Say & Play cohort, we went a step further and worked with parents who have shown leadership abilities. Participants learned technology and facilitation skills in greater depth –skills that they can continue to develop and share with their families and others. They were also expected to engage more in their community and make two presentations on early language development. This group has learned and accomplished many things, made important connections in their community, and, most importantly, has grown in confidence to serve as leaders and advocates. I am very proud of them.”

The 5th cohort had 15 graduates. Say & Play is funded by the PNC Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, and the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation.
