We thank the Pine Lake Country Club and its members Rich Tropea and Ron Reddy for organizing a recent charity golf outing to benefit our Piquette Square for Veterans. The event drew almost 80 golfers and raised $7,000 that will help fund support services at Piquette Square.
Piquette Square provides permanent supportive housing for 150 formerly homeless veterans, enabling them to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the community.
This was the first year for the PLCC Veteran Golf Outing Fundraiser. More than 40 PLCC members are veterans, including Rich and Ron, who co-chaired the outing. The event took place on August 21, and was successful despite the challenges posed by the Covid crisis. Southwest Solutions is honored that Piquette Square was chosen as beneficiary of the fundraiser. Rich, Ron and PLCC plan to make the golf outing an annual event that will continue to grow, and we look forward to an ongoing partnership to benefit Piquette Square.
After the outing this year, participants gathered for lunch and heard from guest speakers. Jim McCloughan, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic acts during the Vietnam War as a combat medic, was the keynote speaker. The Medal of Honor is our country’s highest military decoration,
Marcus Cobb, a veteran who resides at Piquette Square, spoke before Jim and described how Piquette Square has transformed his life. Jim thanked Marcus for his sharing his story and presented Marcus a Medal of Honor Challenge Coin, which is a very special way of recognizing someone who embodies the core principles of military service to the nation. Marcus expressed his deepest gratitude for the honor.
Southwest Solutions’ Joe Tasse and Linda Irvine also spoke at the lunch event. Joe is CEO and Linda is with Development.
