About 50 volunteers attending the NeighborWorks America’ National Training Institute (NTI) in Detroit teamed with Southwest Solutions for two beautification projects in southwest Detroit. One involved painting murals for the community garden and pocket park known as Bagley Gardens, located at Bagley and 25th. The other involved cleaning up a lot that will soon become the site of the “Bagley Peace Farm,” located on Bagley close to Scotten. After the morning volunteer effort on August 11, the volunteers had lunch at Bagley Gardens and listened to remarks from Paul Weech, president and CEO of NeighborWork America, and John Van Camp, president and CEO of Southwest Solutions. Cliff Russell emceed the program.
