More than 300 volunteers participated in our Neighborhood Beautification Day on Saturday, June 10. The volunteers improved 15 sites: 14 southwest Detroit and one in the North End. Volunteers worked in teams to install or refresh flower beds and community gardens, weed and mulch, clear overgrown brush and debris, paint murals, and do general cleanup. This is the 11th consecutive year for the event, which is part of a national and week-long effort arranged by NeighborWorks America. In Detroit, Southwest Solutions coordinates the event in partnership with many community organizations.
We thank our event sponsors for their support. MascoCorp was our Platinum sponsor. BHPI and JPMorgan Chase & Co. were our Gold sponsors. Citizens Bank, Marathon and Sherwin-Williams were our Silver sponsors. Lear Corporation was our Bronze sponsor. In addition, New Center Stamping and NeighborWorks America provided support.
Once again, we thank all our volunteers, partners and sponsors for another meaningful and memorable event that truly makes a difference in our community.
