About 250 volunteers improved 14 sites in southwest Detroit on Neighborhood Beautification Day on Saturday, June 11. Volunteers worked in teams to install or refresh flower beds and community gardens, plant trees, weed and mulch, clear overgrown brush and debris, and do general cleanup. The annual event is organized through a partnership of many community organizations, led by Southwest Solutions. This is the 10th consecutive year for the event, which is part of a national and week-long effort sponsored by NeighborWorks America.

In addition to NeighborWorks, sponsors included JP Morgan Chase, Citizens Bank, Deloitte, Ford Motor Company, Marathon, Quicken Loans, and Sherwin Williams.
