Metro In-Home Solutions provides quality and affordable home modifications that enable seniors and persons with disabilities to live safely, independently, and comfortably in their homes. Metro In-Home Solutions (Metro IHS) is a partnership of four leading and trusted nonprofit organizations: Southwest Solutions, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan Detroit, and Hartford Community Development Corporation. Metro IHS provides quality services at reasonable cost, and in some instances can help customers with securing low-cost loans.
Studies show that most seniors and persons with disabilities prefer to stay in their homes as they age. Unfortunately, many of them live in homes that have barriers that make them unsafe. We can help anyone who desires to age in place:
Metro In-Home Solutions will assess the clients’ homes, recommend and install cost-effective modifications that will enable them to safely and independently age in place. The home assessment and cost estimate is provided free of charge. In many cases, Metro IHS can secure funding from third party payers to subsidize the cost of the modifications.
Our team of home assessors and skilled trades include Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS). We are careful in planning the work and efficient in implementing it. We are certified by the EPA to provide lead safe renovation, repair and painting. Here is a partial list of the accessibility modifications that we offer:
Metro IHS started in 2016 and completed 19 homes in its first year. Metro IHS partnered with Fifth Third Bank and First Independence National Bank for the 2016 Accessibility Modifications Program (AMP). The AMP provided grants up to $15,000 to eligible low-income seniors and persons with disabilities for home modifications.
Metro In-Home Solutions is committed to providing services without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin. All workers are trained, licensed, insured and bonded, as appropriate.
The 2016 AMP resulted in 37 completed home modifications in Michigan and Indiana. Metro IHS completed over half of them, all in metro Detroit.
