Mayte Penman is the recipient of the 2017 Public and Community Service Award from the Wayne State University Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS).

Mayte directs resident engagement initiatives at Southwest Solutions through the Vista Partnership program. The award was presented at the CLLAS 46th anniversary Gala and Celebración on September 15 in southwest Detroit.
