Two dozen employees of Ford Motor Company volunteered to build a food pantry, distribute holiday gift bags, and prepare lunch at our Go-Getters Drop-in Center. Ford also provided a $5000 grant for materials to construct the pantry, food items to stock the pantry, items for the gift bags, and art supplies.
The volunteer effort was part of Ford Volunteer Corps’ Accelerated Action Day on Friday, December 3. Ford offers its employees the opportunity to volunteer in the community two days a year and still receive regular pay.
Go-Getters not only hosted the Ford volunteers last Friday, it also offered its consumers holiday arts and crafts activities.
Go-Getters serves adults who are living with mental illness, many of whom are homeless or formerly homeless.
