Our Thrive by Five and Early Learning Communities (ELC) programs held fun events last Friday for southwest Detroit families.

At our Thrive by Five center at the former Beard Elementary School, families enjoyed bouncy houses, arts and crafts, train rides and fun learning activities. Families in the neighborhood were invited to learn more about Thrive by Five, which provides free, high-quality Head Start and Early Head Start. For more information about Thrive by Five, including how to enroll, contact 313-596-4766 or headstart@swsol.org

At our Larkins ELC, the “Moms Club” celebrated its last gathering for the summer with a picnic featuring healthy food prepared by the moms, games and other activities for both the children and moms to play together. The Moms Club was organized by two dozen moms participating in our ELC program. The moms arranged weekly Zumba classes, cooking classes, and field trips.
