More than 50 families in southwest Detroit attended an enrollment and health fair for our new Early Head Start program. The event was held on Friday, November 30 at Avancemos in southwest Detroit.
Our Early Head Start provides free, comprehensive child development services to low-income families through both home-based and center-based programming. Early Head Start (EHS) serves pregnant women and children birth to three years old. The goal is to improve the health and readiness-to-learn of children before they enter preschool and kindergarten. Our EHS is the first program of its kind in southwest Detroit. It targets families in the 48210 zip code. Our program is part of a major collaborative initiative in Detroit led by Starfish Family Services.
The enrollment and health fair at Avancemos featured fun activities, health screenings, appearances by Elmo and Dora the Explorer, food and refreshments, raffles, and more.
