Bagley Pedestrian Bridge opens – uniting Mexicantown

May 5th, 2010
The Bagley Avenue Pedestrian Bridge is part of the $230 million Gateway Project, which provides a direct connection from I-75 and I-96 to the Ambassador Bridge. The Bagley bridge is the first cable-stayed pedestrian bridge in Michigan.

The brand new, $5 million Bagley Pedestrian Bridge provides easy access between the east and west sides of Mexicantown for the first time in 40 years. Several hundred people and many public officials were on hand to celebrate the opening of the bridge today, which is Cinco de Mayo. They walked across the 407-foot-long bridge that spans across the major freeway exchange near the Ambassador Bridge.
