Every year the Michigan Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) recognizes the best construction projects in the state. Last month, it was announced that Lithuanian Hall is among this very select group.
As the general contractor of the Lithuanian Hall restoration, O’Brien Construction received a “2007 Build Michigan Award” from AGC Michigan. Tim O’Brien, owner of the company, accepted the award at a special ceremony in Ann Arbor. In his acceptance speech, Tim spoke about his close work with Southwest Solutions, which owns Lithuanian Hall, to make the historic building a tangible symbol of the revitalization of Southwest Detroit.
The Build Michigan Awards honors projects that meet difficult challenges; demonstrate excellent project management and innovative construction techniques; are environmentally sensitive; respond keenly to client needs and safety concerns; and contribute to the community. Lithuanian Hall was judged as scoring exceptionally high on all these criteria. Attendees at the awards event were also amazed that all this was accomplished with a budget of less than $1 million.
