Free Training to Become A HazMat Technician!

Learn the skills you need to become a HazMat Technician through free training conducted by the Detroit Training Center, in partnership with Southwest Solutions.

The program is designed for those working with hazardous materials, including materials contaminated with coronavirus. Trainees will learn how to protect themselves while remediating hazardous materials. The training includes instruction on PPE use, fitting, and requirements.

This training will be in-person (PPE and safety protocols will be observed).

The two-week program starts on December 13 and ends on December 28. You will receive 90 hours of training, including job-readiness, plus job-placement assistance.

To participate in the program, you must be an adult Detroit resident (at least 18 years old). You must also have a driver’s license and be able to pass a drug test.

The program prepares you for career opportunities such as:

  • Facility Maintenance
  • Janitorial Deep Cleans
  • HazMat Response team

You will earn these credentials:

  • OSHA 10
  • HAZWOPER 40
  • HazMat Cleanup
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Respirator Fit Test
  • Respirator Physical
  • First Aid /CPR
