Seated on the floor on the right is Sarah Dominguez, a specialist with our Early Childhood Mental Health, who has been helping the family.

Alejandra DeLarosa started to cry as soon as Shannon and Trevor, with Specific Media, entered the family home with Christmas presents for the children.

“I didn’t think we would have a real Christmas this year because I could not afford to buy gifts for the children,” Alejandra said. “The kids said they understood, but I knew they were disappointed. I’m crying now because they are so happy. I cannot thank Specific Media enough.”

This is the third consecutive year that Specific Media has “adopted” a family in our Early Childhood and Family Literacy division. For Shannon Ferrini, it is her fifth year in row. She brought the tradition to Specific Media when she joined the advertising firm.

Shannon is Specific Media Executive Assistant to Executive Vice President. Trevor Copacia, who accompanied Shannon to the DeLarosa home, is Specific Media Sales Director. In addition to Shannon and Trevor, three other Specific Media colleagues participated in the Christmas tradition of giving to a needy family served by Southwest Solutions. The colleagues are:

  • Kim Neeley- Account Specialist
  • John Chung- Vice President of Sales, Great Lakes Region
  • Jon Schulz- Executive Vice President, Business Development

Alejandra is enrolled in our Early Childhood Mental Health program, which supports the healthy social and emotional development of children. Alejandra lives in southwest Detroit and receives home visits from Sarah Dominguez, a specialist with the program. Sarah is bilingual, and her work with Alejandra is helping Alejandra cultivate a stronger relationship with her new baby that will help the child learn and progress more successfully.

“I can already tell a difference with the baby,” Alejandra said. “I wish I known before these things that Sarah has taught me so that my other children would have benefited.”
