Public Affairs
Southwest Solutions’ Public Affairs program creates written and visual materials that convey our programs and mission, facilitates communications with media outlets and researchers, and manages our website. The mission of Public Affairs is to support our housing and counseling programs by making the community more aware of the work we do and the issues we address. We advocate for the people we serve by presenting honest and compelling stories of lives that have changed, neighborhood revitalization, and community empowerment.

Southwest Solutions is an organization of more than 300 people engaged in a comprehensive effort to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in southwest Detroit.

Our counseling and housing programs are nationally recognized for their excellence and effectiveness. Our staff is comprised of leading experts in mental health counseling, family literacy, homelessness, nonprofit housing development, foreclosure prevention, and many other human services and community revitalization areas. Access to our experts and programs is available to reporters and researchers.

In its sweeping vision of integrating human services and strategic development, Southwest Solutions is an evolving urban experiment. Our counseling and housing programs provide direct services to more than 6,000 people in southwest Detroit. In addition, thousands more participate in our many outreach events. We have invested more than $110 million in housing and real estate development in the community. Our efforts are making a dramatic difference in one of the most diverse areas in Michigan. We look forward to sharing our story with you.
