Promoting healthy living at Piquette Square for Veterans

May 23rd, 2016
The Healthy Piquette cooking class prepares a fruit pizza and a southwest salad.

Through a grant from the DMC Foundation, the “Healthy Piquette” program teaches the formerly homeless veterans residing at Piquette Square about healthy living through exercise, diet, gardening and, in general, taking better care of body and mind.

The goal is to help reduce the need for acute care among the veterans. The program meets three days a week.

On Thursdays, Healthy Piquette instructor RanDee Spencer conducts a cooking class about making nutritious and affordable meals.
