Southwest Counseling Solutions also provides Supportive Employment Services, Permanent Supportive Housing, and clinical and outpatient services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. We have a highly trained and bilingual staff of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, counselors, social workers, nurses and support staff who are experts in their fields. Our quality health services make it possible for those we serve to become productive members of the community. We provide a system of support driven by our guiding principles: respect, responsibility and recovery.

Services:
  • Developmental Disability Services: We provide therapy and coordination of services for children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing cognitive deficits, cerebral palsy, autism or any other conditions that appear before age 22 and result in substantial functional limitations in major life activities.
  • Supported Employment Services for those seeking full-time or part-time work. Services include individualized job search, Social Security benefits, counseling, and on-the-job supports.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing for adults who currently reside in Adult Foster Care homes and who are seeking to live independently

The Waterman Outpatient Clinic is located at 1700 Waterman St., Detroit, MI 48209. Anyone seeking our counseling services should contact our ACCESS and Welcome Center, which is the point of entry for all our mental health programs. The ACCESS unit responds to all requests and determines eligibility for services according to intensity of need and severity of symptoms. Appointments are scheduled for persons who meet our admission criteria. Crisis intervention services are provided on a walk-in basis. To contact the ACCESS unit, call 313.841.7474 Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

The Developmental Disabilities program’s main goal is to provide the best possible services to individuals with developmental disabilities by promoting conditions so they can live healthy and fulfilling lives and realize their strengths.
