Home Repair Loans Program

Southwest Housing Solutions’ Housing Opportunity Center (HOC) provides home repair loans to low- to moderate-income homeowners in single-family residences. Each eligible household can borrow up to $10,000 at a fixed rate of 3% for a 10-year term. Borrowers must live in the southwest Detroit zip codes 48209, 48210, and 48216; or the Pilgrim Village community. Priority is given to loans that address code violations, structural problems, and health and safety hazards.

Services:

Homeowners are eligible if their annual income is less than 80% of the area median income. For a family of four, the income limit is $55,900. A current eligibility chart is available.

To participate in the program, you must provide: the recorded warranty deed; a recent mortgage statement; proof of income; proof of property insurance; proof of paid property taxes; proof of occupancy; and a picture identification.

The HOC’s home repair loan program is part of our mission to promote and sustain homeownership in southwest Detroit. Funds for the program are provided by NeighborWorks® America, Bank of America (formerly LaSalle Bank), the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, and other sources. All loan payments from borrowers go back into the revolving loan account, which enables us to help other low-income homeowners in southwest Detroit improve their homes and quality of life.
