Adult Counseling Services
Hispanic Services
Southwest Counseling Solutions provides bilingual and bicultural mental health counseling services for Hispanic persons who are experiencing anxiety issues, moderate depression, social and psychological adjustment problems because of cultural differences, or a combination of these difficulties. Nearly one third of our staff is bilingual, making us one of the largest providers of bilingual counseling in the Michigan, and enabling us to effectively serve our diverse community.

We have a highly trained and bilingual staff of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, counselors, social workers, nurses and support staff that are experts in their fields.

We have the largest number of Spanish and English speaking mental health staff in southwest Detroit. Nearly 40% of everyone we serve in our adult mental health counseling program is Latino or Hispanic.

We have a proven reputation for client-focused, innovative solutions to complex and challenging psychiatric, family and social issues. Our experienced staff can help resolve the behavioral health issues facing people of all ages and all walks of life.

Our approach is comprehensive, integrated and proactive. And our services are easy to access. We can provide you the best resources and practices to reach your goals. Our aim is to understand your needs and to exceed your expectations by working together with you and others who care about you.

Our mental health counseling services for adults are highly effective and cost efficient. Almost everyone we treat is able to remain in the community and move toward recovery.

All our counseling programs express our guiding principles: Respect, Responsibility and Recovery. We draw from this wellspring for the wellbeing of each client we serve.

The Waterman Outpatient Clinic is located at 1700 Waterman St., Detroit, MI 48209. Anyone seeking our counseling services should contact our ACCESS and Welcome Center, which is the point of entry for all our mental health programs.

The ACCESS unit responds to all requests and determines eligibility for services according to intensity of need and severity of symptoms. Appointments are scheduled for persons who meet our admission criteria. Crisis intervention services are provided on a walk-in basis.

In southwest Detroit, nearly half the residents are Hispanic, and many speak only Spanish or do not speak English well enough to feel comfortable visiting locations in the community where English is the primary language. In attending to our community, and as a leading provider of mental health services, Southwest Counseling Solutions understands the importance of making sure that our services are available to Spanish speaking residents and that Hispanic consumers feel comfortable entrusting their hopes for recovery to our care.
