Great Parents, Great Start (GPGS) serves families with children newborn to age four. Its goal is to promote the overall health and cognitive development of young children by encouraging positive parenting skills, improving school readiness, and preventing the need for special or remedial education services in the future. Southwest Solutions’ GPGS program provides home visits by child development specialists to eligible families. Our specialists are bilingual, and serve Arabic, Hispanic and English-speaking families. We also offer many free parent/child playgroups that feature fun learning activities.
Our Great Parents, Great Start (GPGS) program operates in partnership with Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (Wayne RESA).

We offer home visits to families with factors in the home that place their children at risk for school failure. Families with a child newborn to age four are eligible for up to seven GPGS home visits if they qualify. Qualifying requirements include social, financial, educational, medical, psychological, English as a Second language, and family-size factors. To learn more about eligibility, please contact us.
Regular developmental screening in the early years makes sure that children are on track, and helps identify areas where additional support may be needed. Families with children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years of age residing in Wayne County can complete a FREE Ages and Stages (ASQ-3) developmental screening. It only takes a few minutes to complete and a developmental screening specialist will follow up with an individualized email to offer supports and resources.
