The Elliottorian Business & Professional Women’s Club arranged a special career and resource fair to connect veterans with job opportunities and community resources to help address their medical, legal, educational, banking, benefits, and other concerns. The fair was held at our Piquette Square for Veterans and was open to all veterans in need. The Elliottorians set a goal of serving at least 100 veterans. Twenty vendors participated in the event, including the VA. “We organized this event because we feel that veterans are under-appreciated, and we wanted them to engage with the resources so they can be more successful,” said Helena Mays, with the Elliottorians. The Elliottorian Club was founded in Detroit in 1928 and was the first club of black business women in Michigan.
