The development goals of Southwest Housing Solutions are to create high-quality, attractive projects that are community assets and to be experts in assembling and utilizing multiple funding sources. We often serve families and individuals with limited financial resources. At the same time, our development strategies realize a comprehensive and long-term perspective.   • $125M in development completed
  • 26 multistory buildings renovated for residential and/or commercial use
  • Completed the $8M, 39-unit Mack-Ashland supportive housing project, which includes 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space, on the east side
  • Completed the $6.7M, 32-unit Scotten Park Townhomes project in Mexicantown
  • Acquired, renovated and sold 150 REO single-family homes through 2013 that were vacant and are now owner-occupied
  • Acquired St. Anthony Church in Mexicantown, leased part of the space, developing a rehab plan
  • Advancing Vista Partnership, an ambitious, resident-driven 20-block development project around the Vernor-Bagley corridors
  • Advancing community organizing efforts around park redevelopment, public safety and block club building
  • Michigan Lending Solutions provided financing to 30 new homeowners in Detroit over in 2013 and launched a home improvement program with Vanguard CDC and the Kresge Foundation to eliminate blight and increase home values in North End neighborhood
  • Developed Piquette Square, a $23-million, 150-unit supportive housing facility for homeless veterans
  • Revitalized the former Third Precinct building into a community cultural center that opened in spring 2012; project recognized as model for repurposing vacant structures in Detroit
  • 140,000 sq. ft. of retail space developed and/or managed
  • 97% occupancy of our commercial lease space
  • Revitalized historic Albert Kahn warehouse at 5716 Michigan - a $12 million project - into integrated heathcare center
  • Received "Reinventing Michigan" award from Gov. Snyder at 5716 Wellness
  • Received Build Michigan award for 5716 Wellness
  • Piquette Square for Veterans received the Phoenix Award for National Community Impact, the nation’s highest honor for excellence in brownfield redevelopment

  • Leased all 44 units of Hubbard Communities, our $8.2M single-family home and townhouse development
  • Completed renovation of Rademacher Lodge building and leased the space
  • Demolished 24 blighted structures near our real estate assets
