JP Morgan Chase Family Literacy Program
Our JP Morgan Chase Family Literacy Program operates two evenings a week and serves parents of children birth through eight who cannot attend our programming during the day. This program is located in our McGraw building.

Services:

Our JP Morgan Chase Family Literacy Program is free for eligible families. The program teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) and serves low-income and low-literacy families. It is intensive, and our schedule requires consistent attendance two evenings a week. It also requires a commitment to continue at home the lessons learned in the program. Our staff is dedicated to supporting families who embark on this commitment.

The premise of the Chase Family Literacy Program is that families can significantly improve their quality and standard of life by embracing the value of education and lifelong learning. The culture of learning at home is the key to a child’s success in school, and thus opens the doors of opportunity for success in life.

The Chase Program meets at 7060 McGraw St., Detroit, MI 48210 (in the former rectory of St. Andrew Church). Classes begin in September. For more information about the program and how to enroll, please contact Lynn McGregor at 313.896.2800 x.6407 or email her.

   Results

  • The maximum class enrollment is 16
  • Parents are tested at the beginning of the program and then again after six months to measure improvement
  • 100% of families improve their knowledge of the English language
  • Attendance rate is more than 89%

Our JP Morgan Chase Family Literacy Program makes a significant difference for families participating regularly in the classes. For both parent and child, the difference goes well beyond the present. It improves future prospects and strengthens family relationships.
