Hector Hernandez, director of the Housing Opportunity Center at Southwest Solutions, has been selected to participate in Leadership Detroit Class XXXII.
Leadership Detroit is a prestigious, year-long program for senior executives in southeast Michigan. It aims to their enhance leadership skills and their awareness of key issues in the region, including include health care, transit, education, arts and culture, diversity and public safety. In addition, the program challenges participants to effect positive change in the community through informed leadership.
Hector is one of 63 local leaders invited to engage in the program this year. Participants represent a cross-section of the community, including business, organized labor, government, education, media, civic groups, health services and community organizations.
“I am honored and humbled to be a member of Class XXXII,” Hector said. “The two-day inaugural session was an incredible experience. I feel energized to be part of such a talented group and am looking forward to our work ahead.”
Among that group is another individual connected with Southwest Solutions. Amanda Sternberg is program director of the Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND), which is based at our Housing Resource Center.
“The mission to end homelessness requires leadership and collaboration among all sectors of our community, and the Leadership Detroit program will certainly help cultivate my skills to further our mission,” Amanda said.
'Once they complete the program, Hector and Amanda will join more than 1800 Leadership Detroit alumni working in leadership positions locally and nationally.
