DETROIT, April 30, 2009 — Affordable Housing Finance magazine has named Southwest Housing Solutions as one of the top 50 developers of affordable housing in the United States.

Southwest Housing Solutions is the only developer in Michigan to make the list, compiled in the April/May edition of the magazine. Affordable Housing Finance (AHF) ranked Southwest Housing Solutions number 40 on the list. “Despite the market challenges, the organization closed on 223 units in 2008, the most it has done in a single year,” AHF wrote.

“To be ranked as the 40th leading developer in the nation of affordable housing units is a landmark achievement for our organization,” said Timothy Thorland, executive director of Southwest Housing Solutions. “The economic downturn means that the need for affordable housing is increasing, even as the financing for such projects becomes more difficult.
