Some veterans who fell on some hard times now have a place to rest thanks to a generous donation from Art Van
There was gratitude all around at Piquette Square for Veterans in Detroit. Art Van furniture donated dozens of brand new sofas to the residents.
The complex houses veterans who were once homeless.
“When you’re serving the country, you know you’re not here with family, and then you do come back home and find out that a lot of different organizations and company take time to donate to veterans here, it’s a happy feeling,” said Bonita Johnson, Army veteran and resident.
The donation started with a phone call from Southwest Solutions.
“I’ll tell you Art Van has been terrific,” said Steve Ragan of Southwest Solutions. “I just happened to call a couple of executives there and said we happened to need a few sofas and they said well, we’re going to do something special for you.”
Art Van’s $70,000 donation brought 150 new sofas to the vets.
“It kind of felt like Christmas day in July I would say,” said Johnson.
These vets are working hard to get back on their feet. In addition to taking classes, they also spend time volunteering in the community.
All the more reason they deserve a nice place to relax.
