Veterans salute as the Colors are raised at Veterans Park at Piquette Square during the dedication ceremony on Patriot Day 2014

Join the veterans at Piquette Square and hundreds of others in remembering all first responders, veterans, and family members who have been injured or lost in terrorist attacks in the United States.

A solemn program of remembrance, beginning at 6 pm, will include Detroit Fire Chief John King and local weatherman Rich Luterman, with Fox2 News. State commanders from various veterans’ service organizations will also perform a ceremonial laying of the wreaths.

The ceremony will be followed by a barbeque-style dinner and live music at 7 pm. The music will be provided by Mary McBride and her band, who perform around the world in combat zones, homeless shelters, and other places where live music is uncommon.

The Patriot Day Observance Ceremony will be held in the Masco Veterans Park at Piquette Square. Piquette Square provides housing and care for 150 formerly homeless veterans.

The event is free and all are welcome.

Piquette Square is located at 6221 Brush St, Detroit, MI 48202. For more information about the event, please email Linda.
